Happy New Year to our Conant community!
As Conant PTO embarks on a new calendar year there is a lot of planning already underway for both our Spring events (see below) and for next October's Conant Artisan & Craft Fair. The Craft Fair is Conant PTO's biggest fundraiser and provides the vast majority of the funds we need to run student enrichment activities during the school day, offset the cost of class field trips, and offer fun community-building events for students and families.
Conant is fortunate to have built this annual fundraiser that relies on people outside of Conant to support our school -- local residents in Acton and surrounding towns pay the vendor booth and attendee entrance fees, which means we do not have to rely so heavily on our Conant families to raise money. Many other AB schools do not have this type of event and instead must rely solely on their school families to fundraise for the school. Conant can continue to benefit from keeping this event running (now almost 40 years!!) for many years to come -- but only if Conant parents are willing to run the event.
The last few years, the Craft Fair has relied heavily on a small handful of very committed volunteers but unfortunately will not continue in 2023 without NEW volunteers like you. We need just 6-8 parents to spend a few hours between now and October helping us plan key aspects of the event -- it IS a long-term commitment but a SMALL amount of work and VERY organized. Plus, there is a full PTO Board committed to supporting the volunteer leads throughout the planning of the event.
Can we rely on YOU to commit to making this important event happen for our local community who has grown to love this event and, most importantly, for our school community who depends on it? If so, please email Catherine Reichert at duffy.catherine@gmail.com before January 31st.
